Hôtel Guimard was built by Guimard himself in the villa Flora and was his house. I’m more than conscious that my photo is awful, but I can assure you that, among many wonderful details there is the entrance (on the left, in the shadow...) all carved in the concrete in the shape of plants and flowers. As always, the facade is effectively wave shaped and is not at all heavy. Notice also the windows, which came in many different shapes and sizes. |

This building, with its many details, testify the big leap that separates Guimard from the past. Look, for example, at the windows and balconies, apart from the curved shape that follows the curve of the facade. Every window, every balcony, is a self-standing object and follows its purpose (big glass panes at the last floor, where I guess there was the artist’s studio, small windows for the bathrooms) and doesn’t follow any strict rule whatsoever. Very nice.
